[[How]] to install Ubuntu on Motorola Droid
Finally the wait is over. Now you can install opensource OS Ubuntu on your opensource Android .
The XDA Developer greekchampion04 has also created a thread on XDA forums regarding the method using which we can install Ubuntu onour Motorola Droid 4 Android phone .
Ain’t that cool ? Hell yeah !!So let us begin with the tutorial to install Ubuntu on our Motorola Droid 4Android phone .
Pre-Requisites to Install Ubuntu on Motorola Droid 4
*. Back up all your data. Backup yourphone data,contacts, SMS, call logs and applications.
*. Make sure you have sufficient battery in your Motorola Droid, so that your phone doesn’t gets switched offin the midst of the firmware update.
*. Motorola Device Drivers should be installed in your computer.
Time for Installation of Ubuntuon MotorolaDroid 4
*. Download the following Required Tools : BusyBox ( Android Market ), Terminal Emulator ( Android Market ), Android VNCViewer ( Android Market ), Android VNCViewer ( Android Market ), zeroktal’s ubuntud4.zip file ( mediafire ), and Vi Cheat Sheet( lagmonster.org ).
*. make sure your deviceis be rooted.
*. Install BusyBox, Terminal, and AndroidVNC Viewer on your Motorola Droid 4.
*. Install and then Run the Ubuntu Installer on your Mobile phone.
*. Follow the on-screen instructions and then click the next button.
*. Connect your Motorola Droid 4 To your computer in mass storage mode.
*. Now, extract the zeroktal’s ubuntud4.zip file to a new folder.
*. Next, open the ExternalSD Card of your Droid 4and transfer all the files which are extracted from the zeroktal’s ubuntud4.zip file.
*. Disconnect your mobile phone from the PC.
*. Open up terminal andthen run thefollowing commands :
*. After you’ve entered the the above commands, enter these commands too
*. Shoot the AndroidVNC app on yourDroid 4 and enter the following settings there:
*. Now Tap onconnect, now press the menu button and then set theinput mode on your Droid 4 to TouchPad.
*. That’s it, you’ve successfullyinstalled theUbuntu OS on your Motorola Droid 4.
